Registration for 2015 NJWA Summer Symphony - Registration is currently being accepted for participation in the intergenerational Summer Symphony Orchestra, which runs from June 23 to July 21. Click here for further information.
NJWA/Willow Grove Family Fun Day - The New Jersey Workshop for the Arts and the Willow Grove Presbyterian Church are sponsoring an NJWA/Willow Grove Family Fun Day at 1961 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains on Sunday, May 31 beginning at noon. The day will include a BYO picnic lunch, games and crafts and additional activities run by Willow Grove, the Miller Cory House Museum and the Rake and Hoe Jr. Garden Club. The NJWA will conduct an “instrument  petting zoo” to acquaint participants with many types of musical instruments.  Several groups from  the NJWA, the Wednesday Morning Strings and the intergenerational Parent/Partner Orchestras, will add to the afternoon’s enjoyment. A highlight of the day’s activities will be a performance by the Florian Schantz Jazz Combo, who will be making an appearance to raise funds for the Music Connection, a program that provides music lessons for children with special needs.  Join us for an exciting day of fun for the whole family.
Majestic Winds Concert - The professional wind band of the NJWA, the Majestic Winds, directed by Howard Toplansky, will perform in concert on Thursday, May 28 at 7:30 pm at Zion Lutheran Church , 559 Raritan Road in Clark. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. 
Westfield Jazz Prodigy - A recent issue (February 19) of both the Courier News and the Home News Tribune, have featured a lead article on Florian Schantz, a student of Phil Rinaldi, who has shared his musical talents with the community. Channel 62's On the Road Features NJWA -  News 12 New Jersey's On the Road visited downtown Westfield on August 15. Rockin' Jazz Band - The  Rockin' Jazz Band, directed by Caryn Feder, has begun a new winter/spring session.  Click  here for more information on the band.
Rock Performance Workshop New Session - The Rock Performance Workshop will begin its winter/spring session on Saturday, February 7Group A will meet at 6:00 pm and Group B at 7:30 pm.  Click here for more details. 
Introduction to the String Bass -  Those in grades 1, 2 and 3 will have fun while they are introduced to playing the string bass, using pizzicato and bow. These are private lessons, which follow the regular  guidelines of the Music Studio. The lessons for this age level are now available because of the Music Studio's acquisition of a 1/10 size string bass. Phone 908-789-9696 for more details. 
Louis Armstrong Award - Dr. Ted Schlosberg presented the Louis Armstrong Award for outstanding accomplishments in jazz performance on trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn and bass trumpet to Florian Schantz of the Florian Schantz Jazz Combo. The presentation took place before a sell-out crowd at the NJWA Gala Celebration and Dinner at Shanghai Jazz in Madison.
