Chin-Wen Deng
Chin-Wen Deng earned a B.A. at Soochow University in Taipei , Taiwan and an M.M. at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University . Ms. Deng's teaching experience includes a Department Assistantship as a part-time lecturer at the Mason Gross School of the Arts Music Department. Her professional performances include a Masters Degree Recital at Rutgers University and a senior recital at Soochow University in Taiwan . Ms. Deng plays double bass and the Er-Hu (the Chinese violin) in addition to the paino. She has performed at the National Concert Hall in Taipei , Taiwan as well as Singapore and Hong Kong .
Siu Yue Hung
Siu Yue Hung earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA, a Master of Music degree in piano pedagogy from Temple University , Philadelphia , PA. She also attended Central Conservatory of Music, Peking , China . Her teaching experience includes St. Margaret's Girls College in, Hong Kong, Academie St. Cecile – Academy of Music , Windsor, Canada and Conservatory Without Walls, Moorestown , New Jersey. Many of her students have won top honors and scholarships in the Kiwanis Festival and are on the Academy Directrice Honor list. She is a member of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
R. Brent Geyer
A graduate of West Chester University, R. Brent Geyer holds a Bachelor of Music in Education and in Piano Performance.
Mr. Geyer, who previously taught piano at the Friedlander Piano Studio in West Chester, Pennsylvania, has extensive performance and ensemble experience. He has been an accompanist at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia and the South African Benefit Recital. Also an accomplished cellist, Mr. Geyer has performed at the University of Villanova production of “Twelfth Night” and with the West Chester University Symphony Orchestra.
The recipient of nearly two dozen awards and scholarships, Mr. Geyer is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and is an elementary strings and classroom music teacher within the Westfield School system.
Gary Scott Lewis
Gary Scott Lewis, piano instructor, holds both a BA degree, with a concentration in music history and literature, and an MA degree, in musical composition, from Montclair State University.
Experienced as a faculty member at the Montclair Music Studio, Mr. Lewis taught piano, violin and music theory.
An organist and music director at Grace Lutheran Church in Union, Mr. Lewis is also a member of the Appraisers Association of America.
Yvonne Wang
Yvonne Wang studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and received her degree as a Bachelor of Music in Theory and Composition from New York University.
She has taught violin, piano and music theory in London, Taiwan and New York and has also been involved in production and promotion for various aspects of the music industry.
A member of many orchestral groups, Ms. Wang is the recipient of several awards for her musical talent in violin performance.
Adam Tendler
A graduate of Indiana University School of Music, Adam Tendler has vast experience as a private piano and composition teacher, as well as administrative experience in many arts education programs.
He was the Artistic Director for Modern Music and the Director of Musical Arts, Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts in Houston Texas.
A staff member in various schools and art councils in New York, Vermont, Texas, Nebraska and North Dakota, he has also performed at numerous venues in these states and composed works for ensembles nationwide and worldwide.
Mr. Tendler also has experience as an announcer and programmer for several radio stations and has edited and revised The History of American Classical Music
Alice Firgau
Alice Firgau possesses credentials in teaching, performing, writing, editing, translating and recording. A graduate of Douglass College with a BA in Music Education and an M. MUS. in Music Literature and Piano from the University of Michigan, Ms. Firgau also took post graduate courses in Spanish civilization and literature from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico.
A former educator in several Union County schools, Ms. Firgau has also been a pianist, organist, and singer in various churches in the area. She has also worked in the publications industry as a writer of music education materials, has written song lyrics, composed piano arrangements and translated music.
Her background includes production work in recording studios in New York, Texas, California and New Jersey.
Efrat Shapira – Violin, Viola, Piano, Vocal Music
Efrat Shapira possesses a wealth of professional experience in the music industry. A graduate of both Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree and of the University of Tennessee with a Master of Music degree, Ms. Shapira taught both private and group instruction for the past 15 years. She draws upon Suzuki, American, Russian and contemporary schools for music education and includes technical development based on the study of movement and technique, including the Alexander and Feldenkrais techniques and physiology and physics.
In addition to teaching, Ms. Shapira is an experienced performer. She recently completed the international Broadway tour of Oliver and has been the concertmistress for several Olivia Newton John concerts. She has also played in numerous orchestras in New York, Tennessee, South Carolina, Indiana, Kentucky and Israel, and is the founder of JADE Quartet, an all-girl string quartet that plays all types of music, even jazz, with no arrangements. They have recorded for such notables as Ja Rule and Ashanti.
An arranger, composer and performer, Ms. Shapira’s experience spans most genres of music such as classical, jazz, country, R&B, gospel, swing and musical theater. Her credits include TV appearances, recording soundtracks, and appearances alongside various artists such as Zubin Mehta, Kurt Mazur, David Baker, Harry Whitaker, Joe Magnarelli, Rusty Holloway, Charlie Acuff, Mark O’Connor, Red Spyda, and Bobbie Eakes.
