What we offer
Our teaching artists and volunteer musicians perform programs built for the room rather than a concert hall — familiar standards, patriotic repertoire, jazz, folk and classical, at a volume and length that suits the setting. Many visits end with the audience singing along or trying an instrument.
- Chamber and small-ensemble concerts in day rooms, chapels and atriums
- Group music sessions with hand percussion, singing and guided listening
- One-to-one bedside or room-to-room music for residents who cannot gather
- Ceremonial performances for Veterans Day, Memorial Day and dedications
- Instrument instruction for veterans who want to start or return to playing
Therapeutic music
Therapeutic performance has been part of NJWA’s outreach for decades. Our music therapy faculty can shape a program around a specific population — rehabilitation, mental health, memory care — and work alongside your recreation therapy or volunteer services staff rather than around them.
What we need from you
- A contact in volunteer services or recreation therapy
- A room, an approximate audience size and a time window
- Any credentialing, background check or health screening steps for our musicians
- Notice of accessibility or noise considerations in the space
