Lessons cover stick technique, control and endurance alongside reading and independence of the hands and feet. Percussion students play in the Jazz Ensemble, the Rock Performance Workshop and our concert bands.

An accomplished percussionist, John Bryan has been playing professionally for more than 27 years. Well known in the New York, New Jersey and West Coast club scene, Mr. Bryan has played at many popular venues such as the Bitter End, China Club, Village Gate, Ritz, CBGB, Webster Hall, the Bottom Line and the Stone Pony. Among the legendary rock performers for which his bands have opened are Patti Smith, the Whirling Dervishes, the Fixx, Billy Squier, the Goo Goo Dolls, Jewel and the Romantics. Mr. Bryan's approach to teaching focuses on the development of four-way independence of the hands and feet, as well as proper stick technique, control and endurance.
