The New Jersey Workshop for the Arts presents the Summer Flute Ensemble, a free opportunity for flautists of ages twelve and older to rehearse and perform different styles of music. Students younger than twelve may participate with a teacher recommendation. The Summer Flute Ensemble will be lead by Kaitlyn Killeen, Assistant Director of the former flute ensemble at NJWA, the Fluteketeers. Ms. Killeen has played flute for 13 years and has been a member of various ensembles including Scotch Plains Fanwood Wind Ensemble and Susquehanna University Symphonic Band, Orchestra, and Flute Ensemble.
Requirements: Students must have at least one year of experience on flute. Students should be prepared to play a C Major, F Major, B flat Major, G Major, and D Major scale along with a two octave chromatic scale. The audition is informal and is to determine the skills of participants. If students have a recommendation from a school or private teacher, an audition may be deemed unnecessary.
Casual audition date: July 2nd from 4-6 p.m.
Rehearsals: starting on July 9th, they will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.
