Directed by Dr. Ted Schlosberg, the Saturday Bands and Orchestras are ensembles for beginning and intermediate student musicians. Parents/guardians are welcome to participate too! Rehearsals are scheduled as follows on Saturdays from Sept through May. Musicians are placed in the appropriate ensemble based on their ability.
Swing (Big Band style) Band : For brass, wind and percussion students. Group meets from 4:30 – 5:30 pm. Experienced and advanced Jazz Musicians should check out the NJWA Jazz Band which meets at 5:00 on Saturdays.
Orchestra 1: For string students with at least 2-12 months’ experience (should be able to play a 1-octave D major scale). Group meets from 2:30 – 3:00 pm.
Orchestra 2: For string students with a little more experience (1-2 years +). Group meets from 3:00 – 3:30 pm.
Orchestra 3: For string students with multiple years experience. Group meets from 3:00 – 3:30 pm.

Musicians must have their own instruments. Instrument rental information is available by calling 908-789-9696.

Scholarships: Write the name of the scholarship in the Scholarship field. For example if you have a professional scholarship write “Professional Scholarship” in the scholarship field.
Aid: NJWA does not want financial hardship to prevent you from being in our ensembles.
• If you have an existing Financial Aid grant that applies to ensembles you can type “existing grant”.
• Financial Aid grants will be given without further application for financial aid for reductions amounting to last years ensemble rates or more (if the rate has changed since last year).
• Financial Aid grants requests lowering charge to less than last years prices will be emailed our Financial Aid application which requires detailed financial information. We are available to assist you filling out this application.
